Like, how in the beginning sequence Sonic gets beaten up and you just get a black textbox, saying that Eggman took over the world after that.? How is this even real? Now take that beginning sequence and compare it to the one from Unleashed. Now, every modern Sonic game is just a hot mess with no soul, Forces is a perfect example for that, there were points in the game where I was just sure that this game must have been some sort of inside joke. Which makes the (unwarranted) hate just sad, it feels like Sega hasn't been the same ever since with the modern Sonic games, like they are just too afraid to break the usual formula now.

I agree, the game was just oozing with passion you could really tell that Sega put their hearts into Unleashed. Unleashed (360/PS3) errs a bit on the long side with S rank times generally taking 4-5 minutes (with the worst being Eggmanland at 7+ minutes), whereas Forces stages are over too soon with their 1-2 minute times. Long enough that getting a good time requires enough consistency to be satisfying, but short enough that beating a level doesn't feel like a slog.

The actual Generations levels nail the prime sonic stage length of 2-4 minutes (SA2 and Unleashed (Wii/PS2) do as well). SA2 and Forces are the only other 3D games that don't have that degree of padding. Unleashed is padded to hell with the Werehog stages, which often take 30-50 minutes to casually complete depending on what point in the story you're at (this is true for both the 360/PS3 and Wii/PS2 versions of the game), Colours has quite a few stages that feel more like missions than proper acts, SA1 scrapes by on reusing stages for the characters (rather poorly imo) and Lost World has it's animals saved requirements (though little else). But unlike most of the other 3D sonic games, Generations has very little padding (only the 15 missions, the vast majority are actually surprisingly fun challenges, and most are also fairly short, as someone whose S ranked all 100 twice now). That's about on par with most sonic games, though the fewest of any of the 3D sonics. Completing the main story takes you through 18 acts, 7 bosses, and 15 out of 100 missions. so what would happen if you decided to take this and turn the entire stage into an huge enemy gauntlet? you get this stage.I've never really gotten the complaints about Generations length. Even though i enjoy playing as the werehog, i still have a few problems in regards of his slow combat. Even with the light speed dash equipped, the problems i mentioned before are still apparent regardless if i have the light speed dash or not.Īs for my least favorite nighttime stage, that would be shamar act 1. I managed to complete the stage without the lightspeed dash cause of completely not knowing that i needed the light speed dash to make the stage less stressful. i'm not sure if this is a problem on my end but sometimes sonic wouldn't lock on to an enemy after i use the homing attack, resulting me to boost to my death in hilarious fashion. (Funny story, my eight year old self hated this stage when the game released) Platforming with sonic felt really awkward and difficult to land.

My least favorite daytime stage is rooftop run act 2.

it made me wonder if anyone has their least favorite stage in the game. I've recently beaten sonic unleashed during the week.
